Our Inspiration

The idea for Umi’s Roots® was sparked in late 2016, but the brand came to life during the pandemic and social justice movement. Our founders made a promise on Juneteenth 2020 that they would build something that could be passed down to their children and create a lasting legacy to inspire community, Black ownership, and self-sufficiency for generations to come.

Umi’s Roots® products are handcrafted to ensure the safest and healthiest outcomes for your hair and skin. We use high quality, all-natural ingredients that accelerate hair growth from the root, protect and strengthen ends, and lock in moisture to keep your hair healthy and beautiful from the inside out.

Our Founder

As a devoted wife and working mother of two, I know the struggle of trying to maintain a household, a career, and a healthy head of natural curls for my daughter and me. After three big chops, countless videos, and a closet full of products, healthy moisturized and protected hair was still out of reach. I researched, got in the kitchen, and after some trial and error, Umi's Roots® was born!

Not only do I want our products to keep you and your hair healthy, I also want our products to inspire confidence in your natural beauty. The How

Umi's Roots® is made with love and care by first sourcing the finest essential oils and ayurvedic herbs possible and then bringing these ingredients together to formulate our restorative and moisture maximizing hair oil. Our proprietary blend is formulated to rejuvenate your hair from the follicle to the tip.
